Assistant Tasting Coordinator, New York Office

Wine Spectator seeks a highly motivated wine and/or spirits lover for an entry-level position in its New York tasting department. Our tastings encompass the breadth of the wine and spirits market, including some of the most allocated bottlings. We’re searching for individuals to join the team overseeing these tastings, with additional editorial duties as needed. This represents a unique opportunity for someone pursuing a career in the beverage industry to develop general wine and spirits knowledge, tasting ability and publishing experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry of tasting samples and wine auction results
  • Handling wine and spirits, researching pricing, managing our cellar and tasting room
  • Setting up in-house tastings
  • Buying Guide production

What we are looking for:

  • A strong basic foundation in wine and/or spirits
  • Beverage industry, restaurant or retail experience
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, Gmail, Filemaker Pro)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Editorial Assistant, New York Office

Are you passionate about restaurants, wine and fine dining? Wine Spectator is looking for a motivated individual to work with Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards program. This full-time position will initially be largely responsible for administrative tasks, but offers opportunities in reporting, writing and digital content production related to restaurants and food-and-beverage trends, and other cross-departmental duties.

Candidates should have an educational background in journalism/communications, at least one year’s experience in publishing and/or administrative fields and some knowledge of wine and dining. All candidates must currently be based in or near New York.

We're looking for candidates with experience in any of the following fields:

  • Proofreading and copy editing
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro)
  • Professional social media account management and email newsletters
  • Web-based content management systems

Assistant Tasting Coordinator, Napa Office

Wine Spectator is seeking an assistant tasting coordinator to work in our office in Napa, Calif. This entry-level position will help manage our blind tasting process and assist with editorial duties as needed. This is a full-time position with opportunities for advancement for someone who is passionate about wine and committed to journalism.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing our extensive wine database
  • Setting up blind tastings
  • Contacting wineries for samples and information
  • Organizing our cellar (must be able to comfortably lift 40 pounds)
  • Participating in general office duties

What we are looking for:

  • Wine industry, retail or restaurant experience
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, database management)
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Candidate must already be located in Northern California; our office is in downtown Napa
