Napa’s Greatest Vintage

2007 Cabernets reach new heights of quality
James Laube
Issue: November 15, 2010

A textbook growing season for California Cabernet and the sheer number of high quality wines defines 2007. In terms of quality, the vintage actually raises the bar considerably, even in comparison to the impressive sweep of vintages from 2001 to 2006. Of the nearly 575 Cabernets Wine Spectator blind-tasted in our Napa office since last year's report, 375 hail from 2007. Of those, more than 190 rated 90 points or higher on the Wine Spectator 100-point scale, with nearly 50 of them receiving classic scores of 95 to 100 points.
