Vintage 2017: Harvest Report

As the smoke clears, vintners assess their vineyards and young wines

Wildfires struck Northern California while harvest was underway. After the fires were put out, vintners reported that some Cabernet Sauvignon and other late-ripening grapes remained on the vines, and winery staffers were scrambling to pick the last of their fruit. And some winery personnel were still unable to gain access to their vineyards or facilities. Wine Spectator's Augustus Weed reports.
