2015 Burgundy Preview

A vintage of stellar, even mind-blowing Pinot Noirs, and very fine Chardonnays; more than 200 potentially outstanding and classic wines rated

The Côte de Beaune's Pernand-Vergelesses, along with the rest of Burgundy, enjoyed a beautiful 2015 vintage.

I had heard good things about the 2015 vintage for red Burgundy. Expectations were high in anticipation of tasting these young reds, and in cellar after cellar, those expectations were exceeded. Despite a hot, dry summer, the wines have freshness and vibrant cores, ripe fruit flavors and flesh that covers the ample tannins. After tasting more than 200 reds from the Côte d’Or, I could count on one hand those that showed any jammy or cooked quality. In a word, the reds are fabulous.

Below find my preliminary score ranges for more than 200 potentially outstanding white and red Burgundies.
